William D. Johnston, Ph.D., President

Dr. Johnston brings more than 30 years of experience in the biotechnology, medical device and healthcare industry. He was President, CEO and operational founder of Inhibitex, Inc. He took the company public on
Nasdaq in 2004. During his nine years at Inhibitex he raised nearly
$220M and advanced multiple products to late stage clinical development including a 2000 patient multicentered Phase III clinical trial. Prior to joining Inhibitex Dr. Johnston spent 22 years at Baxter Healthcare Corporation
where he held various executive positions including Vice President and
General Manager of the Gene Therapy Business Unit and VP of the
central R&D function. During his Baxter tenure he played a leadership role
in bringing products to the market that currently approach $1B in annual revenue. Dr. Johnston has served, or is serving, on the Board of Directors
of Inhibitex, Neocrin and ACTx, the Biotechnology Industry Association (BIO), and the Georgia Biomedical Partnership. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Emory Johns Creek Hospital and as an advisor to the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Dr. Johnston has served
on the Advisory boards of the Univ. of Illinois College of Engineering and Norhwestern University's Department of Chemical Engineering. Dr.Johnston received both a B.S in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Brigham Young University.
